A Chicken coop under construction almost every city in the U.S. allows backyard chickens, they are easy to keep and don't require much care or time. Check your local city ordinance. You do not need a rooster for a hen to lay eggs.

My personal taste is Brown Eggs. I have a regular customer base that loves the eggs.
I have some banty Cochins and some
Belgian Bearded d'Uccle Bantams I love cochins they are quiet make great pets and great egg sitters and mothers. | ||

Our chickens have a chicken coop but in good weather have a huge fenced yard they roam. Natural is better, chickens that roam to eat naturally grass, bugs and can roll/bathe in the dirt are much healthier & happier birds. We do not feed medicated feeds. Typically we get one egg a day, I do give them a couple months off in the winter to rest. Our older retired birds go to out to pasture with a large pole barn to live, they roam free and live a very contented life.
We also keep Guineas, they are great alarm birds and roam the pastures great bug/tick eaters. Guineas are not for everyone they can be very loud and need lot's of room to roam.
